Busier than a one legged riverdancer!

I've got the Frost Fayre at Primrose Hill this weekend - and I've been manically trying to get together more stock in time... so quiet on the bloggy front..

I'll post some photos of the fayre though and will let you all know how it went!

A delicious little recipe for you all - made it last night and it's a bit of a winner in our house..

Pumpkin Curry with Chickpeas

Recipe here

nom nom nom!

Felty goodness..

I've recently got my mitts on a nice big pile of ridiculously yummy coloured felt. Having not had much to do with the world of felt since Miss Hourigan told us all not to run with scissors, I'd forgotten how much fun it is!!

Brooches and tree decorations are on the agenda to begin with, but that might extend a bit into bag decorations and pretty things for hairdos, I think! Here's my first efforts:
First for the brooches...

Only one tree decoration so far, but there's a whole bunch cut out and ready to go..

There's going to be a LOT more of these li'l babies, I think! Much fun!

Christmas fairs.....

I've decided to sell my wares at christmas fairs starting with this pair (see what I did there?):

Primrose Hill Frost Fayre, London, NW1 8JL - Saturday 22nd November

Glyn Christmas Fair, Ewell Village, Surrey KT17 1NB - Saturday 27th November

So full steam ahead on bag production for the next couple of weeks!

Ahh Surrey you pretty li'l thing

Given that my darling 'ubby comes from Surrey, we've spent quite a lot of time there in the last 5 years or so.. I really do love the place. It's so green, with the little villages and winding roads that come to mind when I think of England.. and at the moment it's all about a million shades of autumn too... beautiful!

I'm going to have to go for a drive and take some photos this weekend, I think..before all the leaves disappear.. in the meantime you can see a little of it in my photos of yesterday:

A bunch of us had a pub lunch in a gorgeous spot near Abinger Common.. very cute area! It was getting a bit dark by the time I took these photos, so I don't think they really do the colours justice....

It was also a chance to say goodbye to our friends Matt, Tati and Baf (the dog!) who fly out to Tati's native Brazil on Friday...

But! Ben and I should be seeing them though in our travels heading back to Australia next year, by the looks of it! South and Central America is looking more and more likely... stay tuned for updates!

I really can't even put into words how happy and relieved I am at Obama's win - I stayed up (very!) late to watch the election and really do believe this means a shift in more than just the politics of the US.

It's fair to say we've been somewhat obsessed with the election in our house, but I think people everywhere, all over the world should be (and are!) paying attention - this has such bigger ramifications than any other election in most of our lifetimes.

Why? I think we're at a fork in the road globally, and the direction of things to come will be hugely influenced by the policies of the American government. Climate change, international security, use of natural resources, international aid - these are all issues that cross borders and affect everyone. The US hugely influences all of these areas, and its decisions impact the world whether we like it or not - we've seen in the last 8 years how this impact can be terrible.. I think now we'll have a chance to see it be positive.

Bring it on

The latest addition to the Harland family of bags is the "Karin" (the eagle-eyed amongst you who know me have probably picked up a theme with my names!)

The "Karin" is a sassy little clutch, fashioned from recycled jeans and striped sheeting. Big enough for the essentials, smart enough for day to day or evening use - there'll be a few more variations coming of this one!

Quite fond of this one!

I seem to have a fixation with all things 1970's at the moment....

I used to love Meccano as a kid... used to steal my brother's to play with... I also have a great love of loft beds, DIY, yellow and the 1970's... so you can imagine my reaction when I came across this

I think I need a lie down.

Thought I might start sharing some recipes and cooking things as well with you all as well as other stuff.. been trying to teach myself to cook over the last couple of years, and have been becoming more and more obsessed with yummy recipes and food in general!

Am currently lusting after Crash Hot Potatoes from The Pioneer Woman blog.... easy and bloody delicious looking

I'm really torn on this one..

Now, you probably know I'm a fan of all things bright and retro... but I'd be really torn over whether the gnomes and flamingos deserve it - I give you Gnome-Be-Gone and Flamingo-Away:

Cute li'l buggers, huh?
